Frequently asked questions
Pottery workshops
Each workshop lasts 2 hours.
Pottery workshop:The price includes the clay and its preparation, the use of all tools and equipment during the workshop, my guidance throughout the session, as well as the care given to your piece after the workshop: drying, smoothing, engraving your name, and the first firing.Decoration / glazing workshop:The price includes the preparation of the glazes, all decoration materials and tools provided (slips, underglazes, oxide pencils, and glazes), my guidance throughout the workshop, and the final firing at 1,270°C (2,318°F).
No. Your piece needs to dry first. I will then carefully smooth it with a sponge to prepare the clay for glazing. I also engrave your first name underneath your piece so it can be identified throughout the entire process.Your piece is then fired for the first time at 980°C (1,796°F).After this first firing, you can book a decoration/glazing workshop to personalise your creation. If you prefer, I can also apply a simple glaze for you (additional service: €20 per person per workshop). The piece is then fired a second time at 1,270°C (2,318°F). Once it is ready, you will receive an email inviting you to collect it.The entire process usually takes several weeks.
During a 2-hour workshop, you can usually create a piece such as a mug with a handle, a bowl, a simple vase, or several smaller pieces such as candle holders or small dishes. The number and type of creations you can make will depend on the complexity of your project, your pace, and your level of experience.Of course, if you only need an extra 5 minutes to finish your piece(s), that is absolutely fine. However, if your project requires more time, you will need to book another session to complete it in the best possible conditions.
Yes, absolutely. If you do not wish to decorate your piece yourself and your project can be completed within 2 hours, one workshop is enough. You can then choose the glazing service for your piece for €20 per person per workshop. I will take care of glazing your piece, so you do not need to attend a second workshop. Please note: You will not be able to take your piece home immediately after the workshop, as it needs to go through several stages of drying, preparation, and firing before it is complete (see the FAQ question “Can I take my creation home on the same day?”).
This paid service, carried out by me, allows you to take part only in the pottery workshop and focus entirely on creating the shape of your piece, without having to complete the decoration stage. After your workshop, I will glaze your piece(s) for you. You can choose from three different glaze options: white, black with green nuances, or transparent. Please note: If you take part in the decoration workshop, you will have the opportunity to personalise your piece using different techniques: decorating with slips, painting with underglazes, drawing with oxide pencils, or glazing your piece with my handmade glazes.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that can get stained. I also recommend bringing an apron.
I use stoneware clay from Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, France.
Yes. By choosing a package of 5 or 10 workshops, depending on your needs and preferences, you will receive a 10% discount on the workshop price.
